Every year we are enchanted by the wonderful winter in Tyrol. The soft trickling of the first snow, the snowy landscape becoming whiter and whiter, the crackling of the fireplace and the scent of cinnamon and cloves.
We love to share this magic with our guests.
In addition, winter at Lake Achen invites you to get active. In the Christlum ski area, which is directly adjacent to the hotel, little snow bunnies are on their skis for the first time. While they make the first turns in the direction of the ski racer in the ski course, the parents enjoy the skiing fun on the slopes or cross-country ski trails.
To warm up, head to our Seealm, which provides hungry winter sports enthusiasts with Tyrolean dishes and the best hut delicacies. Even more winter fun awaits you with tobogganing together or a beautiful horse-drawn carriage ride, where you can really enjoy the snow-covered mountain panorama.
Christlum ski area:
The valley station and thus the entrance to the middle of the skiing fun is located directly at our family hotel. The Christlum is a small but fine family ski area with slopes for every taste and in every level of difficulty. The little skiers enjoy wind-protected runs, while the very good skiers are challenged in the high alpine area.

Cross-country skiing:
The Achensee cross-country skiing region offers cross-country skiers 200 kilometres of trails around Tyrol’s largest lake. In addition to classic cross-country ski trails, there are also parallel skating tracks. Between the majestic mountain ranges of Rofan and Karwendel you will find a varied terrain with cross-country ski trails of all levels of difficulty. There are slightly hilly circuits around Lake Achensee for beginners and children as well as challenging routes in the Karwendel valleys for the cross-country skiing pros among you. The entrance to the cross-country ski trail for our hotel guests is located directly at the Seealm!
The excellent cross-country ski trail system in the Achensee region has already been awarded the cross-country ski trail seal of approval several times in a row. The most sophisticated guidance system with extensive signage and a handy cross-country trail map will delight all nature lovers. In our hotel’s own ski school, we also offer cross-country skiing courses for young and old, beginners and advanced.
From the ski cellar you can hop about 50 children’s steps into pure skiing fun on the Christlum. In addition, skiers and snowboarders will find the best winter sports conditions in the Achensee region on around 59 kilometres of slopes in three ski areas. Guaranteed snow, additional snow-making facilities and top lifts guarantee a successful skiing and winter holiday with your family.
Ski rental and sports shop:
In the hotel’s own ski rental and sports shop, you will find everything a skier’s heart desires in terms of equipment. Our ski professionals will be happy to advise you on all winter sports issues and give you valuable tips for choosing the right equipment.
Ski school:
In our in-house ski school, your little skiers will be successfully prepared for the big downhill runs by the highly trained ski instructors. For children from the age of 3, the ski or snowboard course is optionally included in the price (from a stay of seven nights if arriving on Saturdays).
Skiguiding:
Parents are not neglected either. While the little ones are at the ski school, parents have the opportunity to go on the slopes for two hours a day (either morning or afternoon) with our professionally trained ski instructors from Monday to Friday. Because it’s not just your little ones who should expand their skills on a skiing holiday.
Also included in the price is one ski depot locker per room for locking skis, poles, helmets and heating up ski boots and gloves.
Ready, set, go!
The adrenaline rush is provided by our weekly guest races. A highlight for anyone who has always wanted to feel like a ski racer. The “pros” compete every Thursday in the adult ski race and then get to cheer on their little ones in the children’s ski race on Friday.
And the best thing about it: Despite professional timekeeping, every brave person who participates is a winner! In the evening, the winners will be honored. The challenge cup is particularly popular. Look forward to the sparkling eyes and pink cheeks of the little skiers at the award ceremony at the medal place. Winter moments at Lake Achensee are not easily forgotten.
Winter hiking:
What could be nicer than making your tracks through the fresh fresh snow during a winter holiday in Austria in sunny winter weather? With every step, the snow crunches under your feet and thousands of ice crystals glitter in the clear winter air.
150 km of cleared winter hiking trails around Lake Achensee invite you to take a winter walk with the whole family. Who makes the most beautiful snow angel?
Snowshoeing:
Away from the winter hiking trails, vast, untouched winter landscapes are easy to find with snowshoes. A touch of adventure and unique winter impressions await you!
With a trained mountain and hiking guide as a companion, our guests move safely in the terrain and learn more about nature and life in the Achensee region.
Tobogganing and snow biking:
Five natural toboggan runs await you and your toboggans around Lake Achensee. The 1.5 to 3 kilometre long toboggan runs are ideal for young racers as well as leisurely family toboggan trips. Tobogganing fun for the whole family!
The Achenkirch toboggan run is also located directly at our family hotel. So that all the energy at the top is not already used up, you can comfortably be transported to the top with the lift to the toboggan start. In Pertisau there is an extra toboggan express as an ascent aid. Every Wednesday evening, our guests can also whiz down the floodlit toboggan run during night tobogganing, even late in the evening. An experience for children and parents!
Horse-drawn carriage ride:
A horse-drawn carriage ride through snowy, enchanting winter landscapes is a special experience and completes your winter holiday in Austria. Whether as a Auszeit for two or with the whole family – a trip through the Karwendel valleys in bright sunshine and glittering snow will not be forgotten in a hurry – promised!
Winter riding:
