With ski school and sports shop to a top children’s hotel
1989 – 1999
So, take courage, sense of family, heart and soul, team spirit, visions and also a pinch of happiness, in the right place at the right time. And then all you need is a little more time and patience and out comes our small, beloved family paradise.
That there has always been something going on with us, since 1989 when we first started with the foundation of the ski school and the sports shop – you can imagine. We didn’t add the hotel until a few years later (at that time still as a simple apartment building). It wasn’t until shortly before the turn of the millennium that we began to live and love our orientation and passion as a children’s hotel.
As one of the top 7 5-smiley children’s hotels in all of Austria and the first at Lake Achen, we quickly decided to expand our hotel to the northwest.
In addition to our cuddly house cats, Schnuggi and Wuschel, we have also expanded the family paradise family with furry members: with our dearest Icelandic horses, Blacky and Maxi, our stubborn but beloved goats, Liesl and Heidi and our cuddly soft bunnies and guinea pigs, Chip, Chap, Max and Moritz.
The Seealm at the small Achensee
1998 to 2001
By the way, have you noticed? Our small Achensee, which we created right at the beginning, is true to the shape of the large Achensee. The name “Little Achensee” is therefore well deserved!
So, there we were on the shore of our own sparkling Achensee, looking at the still small, traditional log cabin in front of us – even back then it was our Seealm – which we really loved from the start and thought about how to preserve it and use it wisely.
It quickly became clear to us: it wasn’t just a renovation, but an expansion that we wanted. The new Seealm should be trendy and timeless. We think that we have succeeded very well, when the Seealm turned out to be the heart of the family paradise every day.
Here you can eat, swim, clink glasses, stop for a bite, listen to music, and laugh. We created the underground connection a little later to provide more comfort and safety.
Always in tune with time
Children’s wellness, children’s taster riding, children’s taster golf, …
We also proved the right instinct when we ventured into the still completely unknown topic of children’s wellness. Under the slogan “Mom, I’m exfoliating!”, we became Europe’s first Kid’s Beauty Centre! With our four pillars: massage, exercise, cosmetics, and nutrition, we were trendsetters in the development of this emerging mega trend. New ideas and dreams followed year after year. For example, our trial golf and trial horse riding for children, our legendary Rose Monday Ball and the weekly ski races and many other settings in which unforgettable family moments are collected.
Hotel extension and horse stables
Another centerpiece for our family paradise
With a motivating, successful tailwind, the southern hotel expansion followed soon. And the stables were quickly no longer just the home of our four-legged friends. 9 Haflinger horses and 2 Icelandic horses now belong to our large Sporthotel Achensee family. This created another valuable centerpiece of our paradise in the middle of the Tyrolean Alps.

As the size of the house increased, our team naturally grew, and we continued to expand the staff house with joy and pride. Because it our heartfelt wish: great family moments can only be collected at places where the environment is 100% safe, comfortable and, above all, filled with respect and love. Utterly, a beautiful place on earth where all ages) feel at home.
You see, with us everything stays the same and is reinterpreted and we love to constantly develop ourselves. For and with our guests! Never before we had a downtime, so we are full of anticipation for everything we will come up with for you. And you can be excited too!
