Winter magic.
Winter family holidays right on the slopes
The beautiful Tyrolean winter never fails to enchant. The soft fall of the first snow, the ever whiter winter landscape, the crackle of the open fire and the scent of cinnamon and cloves...
We love sharing this magic with our guests.
Winter at Lake Achensee is also perfect for winter sports. Budding winter athletes can try out skis for the first time at Christlum ski resort, which is just beside the hotel. While they make their first turns on the road to becoming ski racers in children's ski classes, their parents can enjoy the pistes or cross-country ski runs. To warm up, everyone can head to our very own Seealm, which serves typical Tyro-lean dishes and delicious Alpine treats to hungry winter sports enthusiasts. Even more winter fun awaits families tobogganing together or on a beautiful horse-drawn carriage ride where you can drink in the snow-covered mountain panorama.
From the ski storeroom, it is about 50 childrens' steps into days of skiing fun in Christlum ski resort. The Achensee region offers skiers and snowboarders excellent winter sports conditions on around 59 kilometres of pistes in three different ski resorts. Reliable snow coverage, back-up snowmaking equipment and great lifts guarantee a successful ski or winter holiday with your family.
Ski school
Highly qualified ski instructors at our in-house ski school can prepare your eager young skiers for the big downhill runs. For children aged three or over, the skiing or snowboarding course is electively included in the price for stays of seven nights or more (arrival on weekends necessary).
Ski guiding:
We also cater to parents. While your children are at ski school, you can spend two hours on the slopes with our professionally trained ski instructors each day (morning or afternoon), Monday to Friday. We want to offer everyone – not just the kids – the chance to improve their skills on their skiing holiday.
Also included in the price is one ski locker per room to store your skis, sticks, helmets and heat your ski boots and gloves.
Ready, steady, go!
Get your adrenaline kick in our weekly guest races. A highlight for anyone who has always wanted to feel like a ski racer. The "pros" compete in the adult ski race every Thursday and can then cheer on their children at the kid's race on Fridays.
And the best part is that in spite of professional timekeeping, every brave competitor is a winner! In the evening, the champions are honoured. The cup is particularly sought after. Your little skiers will have pink cheeks and sparkling eyes at the award ceremony. Winter moments at Lake Achensee are not easily forgotten.
Christlum ski resort:
The valley station and therefore your access to the ski resort is right beside our hotel. Christlum is a small but beautiful family ski resort with pistes for all tastes and all levels of difficulty. There are sheltered downhill runs for the youngest skiers, and high alpine challenges for the most experienced.
What the resort has to offer:
- 27 kilometres of pistes
- Children's practice lift
- DinoJet: Button lift for small children
- Baby lift for kids
- Boardercross course
- Winner of the top "Skiarea Test" award for the best piste preparation
- 3 km toboggan run
- The Seealm for a bite to eat
- Ski hire and sports shop in the hotel
For even more diverse skiing fun, explore the two other popular ski resorts at Lake Achensee:
- Rofan ski resort
- Zwölferkopf/Karwendel ski resort
Cross-country:
The Achensee cross-country area has 200 kilometres of trails around Tyrol's largest lake. In addition to conventional cross-country trails, there are also parallel skating tracks. Between the majestic mountain ranges of Rofan and Karwendel is a varied terrain with cross-country trails at all levels of difficulty. Slightly hilly trails around Lake Achensee are perfect for beginners and children, while cross-country skiing pros can test themselves on more challenging routes in the Karwendel valleys. Our hotel guests can hit the trails right leading from the Seealm.
The excellent cross-country network in the Achensee region has now been awarded the "Loipen-Gütesiegel" cross-country ski quality seal several times in a row. Skiers love the ingenious system with extensive signposting and a handy trail map. You can find a detailed map of all cross-country ski trails along with the current weather and cross-country ski run service at www.achensee.com.
The hotel's own ski school runs cross-country skiing courses for both beginners and advanced skiers of all ages.
Winter walking:
What could feel better than leaving your tracks in the fresh new snow on a sunny winter's holiday in Austria? Snow crunches under your feet with every step you take and thousands of ice crystals sparkle in the clear winter air.
With 150 km of cleared winter hiking trails around Lake Achensee, you can enjoy winter walks with the whole family. Who can make the best snow angel?
Snowshoeing:
Strap on your snowshoes and discover untouched winter landscapes off the beaten track. Get ready for a touch of adventure and unforgettable winter scenery. With a trained mountain guide as your companion, you will navigate the area safely and learn more about nature and life in the Achensee region.
Tobogganing and snow biking:
Test yourself and your toboggan on five natural runs around Lake Achensee. The 1.5 to 3-kilometre toboggan runs are ideal for both young racers and relaxed family tobogganing. Great fun for the whole family.
The Achenkirch toboggan run is also right beside our hotel and can be accessed on foot. To make sure you haven't used up all your energy by the time you get to the top, you can take the lift to the start of the run. In Pertisau, there is even a "toboggan express" to help you up the hill. Each Wednesday evening, there is also an opportunity to experience the runs a little later with illuminated "night tobogganing". An experience for children and parents alike!
Horse-drawn carriage ride:
A horse-drawn carriage ride through magical snow-covered countryside is something special – and a perfect part of your winter holiday in Austria. A trip through the Karwendel valleys in bright sunshine and glittering snow is simply unforgettable. Enjoy the experience as a couple or with the whole family.
